Matt
To some, Matt is known as a computer genius. Others consider him to be an Ultimate Frisbee master. He is these things and more. By day, he works at a "dot com," managing the company's computer systems.
When not spending his free time with his fabulous fiance (can you tell who is writing this?) you can find him coaching the Las Positas College Ultimate Frisbee and his own open club team YR. He is pretty much good at everything he does: sports photography, poker (most times!), wakeboarding, snowboarding, rock climbing and the list goes on...

Emily
Most days I spend my time writing--either for a local, weekly newspaper or my blog. I'm glad to be back in the Bay Area, after recently graduating from Biola University in SoCal, since it means Matt and I are only 5 miles apart, not over 350.
Another way to learn more about me is through reading my blog: emilyatwood.com/blog.
A few of my favorite things: design, reality TV, Ultimate Frisbee, puppies, photography, beef, shopping, old movies, AP style, crocheting, ice cream, pomegranate martinis, the colors celedon and robin's egg blue, pop music, and chocolate.

How we met
Technically we met in December 2003. But I (Emily) didn't remember until later. We both went to a summer kickoff luau through Neighborhood Church at a friend's house in Blackhawk. Matt and a friend came over to talk (read: interrogate) me.
One of the questions was, "Do you have a boyfriend?" That was quickly followed by, "What sports do you play?" I told him I had enrolled in an Ultimate Frisbee class at a community college. It was then I found out he was the captain of the Ultimate Frisbee team. It became a fun summer of tossing Frisbees and discovering a new best friend!
What is love?
We committed to only say "I love you" after the marriage proposal. Matt wrote a blog post about love, which I believe aptly shows how seriously we are taking our future together. An excerpt:
- So, leading up to the proposal, as I was about to tell her I loved her for the first time, I needed to make sure I did and to define to myself what it was. I Google searched it, looked it up on Wikipedia, dissected the different versions of love from the Bible, and more. I discussed it with my coworker, who asked me if we had common interests (check), if I’d be happy spending the rest of my life with her (check), and more (check).
